I am having a weird keyboard problem. Instead of making an apostrophe, my keyboard makes one of these:

è

every time I hit that key. Probably useful for writing in French, but as it turns out I am really apostrophe-reliant. Does anyone know how to fix thisÉÉ Oh man, it does the same thing for the question mark! Help!

On closer investigation, a lot of my keys are screwed up.

The forward slash makes this: à
The bracket makes this: "
And the front bracket with shift makes an apostrophe! But I would still like to have my keyboard back to normal...

It looks like your keyboard somehow got set to the wrong language. I don't know what to advise ... hate to admit this, but my computer keyboard sometimes gets stuck on spanish (meaning that the apostrophe becomes the n with the ~ over it and stuff like that) and my solution is to call to my boyfriend in my girliest voice and say, "Honey will you fix this pleeease?" (Funkychicken would be so proud.) Sometimes this happens in the computer lab I use at school, too (since it's a computer lab shared by grad students in Spanish & Portuguese, French & Italian, German, Slavic languages, Asian languages and miscellaneous other languages) -- my solution in that case, when the computer's on a language I don't speak, is to switch computers.

Really, there's a way to have control over which language your keyboard is in, and I know people who know how to explain this, but I'm too lazy to learn.

I really love getting emails from other countries, though, where people aren't familiar with the characters and you get all kinds of cool, funky stuff happening.
